Spice Route by Galaxy Restaurant — A Culinary Expedition across the Indian Ocean

Indian, Arabic and Mozambican restaurant at Nº 184 Av. Mao Tse Tung, Maputo, Mozambique. Free delivery across Maputo.

Follow the dhow from our table in Maputo, up the Mozambican coast and across the monsoon sea to the pepper coast of Kerala — the route that shaped every dish we cook.

Food has travelled

Long before food could be ordered, delivered or carried across borders with ease, it travelled differently. Spices moved from one shore to another. Merchants followed the winds. Sailors carried unfamiliar ingredients into distant ports — and with them came recipes, traditions and new ways of cooking.

A spice found a new kitchen. A recipe took a different shape. A familiar flavour became something new.

Spice Route is inspired by those journeys — not by one place or one cuisine, but by the movement of flavours and the stories created when different cultures meet.

Because food has always travelled. And every journey leaves a flavour behind.

Plates that crossed an ocean

  • Paal Konju Pollichathu (INDIA · THE MALABAR COAST) — Prawns in a delicate marinade of coconut milk, green chilli, ginger and curry leaves, wrapped in banana leaf and grilled until gently smoky — a soft, creamy coastal treasure.
  • Chicken Mandi (ARABIA · THE CARAVAN TRADE) — Chicken slow-cooked over saffron-scented rice and smoked with whole spices, served with traditional sides. For one, two or four — the way the caravans shared it.
  • Fish Mango Curry (INDIA · THE SPICE COAST) — Tender fish in a rich coconut emulsion brightened by raw green mango, tempered mustard seeds and curry leaves. Best with red matta rice.
  • Rasmalai Tres Leches (INDIA MEETS THE WORLD) — Soft rasmalai meets the silky richness of tres leches, layered to melt in the mouth — the sweetest crossing on our menu.

A table for every occasion

From a quiet dinner for two to a feast for the whole family, we plan the journey around you.

  • Private Dining — Birthdays, anniversaries and family gatherings, with a menu planned around your table and your guests.
  • Family Feasts — Share the journey: mandi for one, two or four, the Caravan Grill Platter for four, and Journey Platters from India, Arabia and China.
  • Events & Catering — Corporate dinners, weddings and celebrations — we bring the flavours of the route to your venue, planned end to end.
